e-mail from CIC..what do I need to do now??? (help)
I am wondering if anyone can help me out please..

I got this e-mail from Detroit today...I am really confused about FBI certificate and our daughter's Canadian citizenship proof..
Are they saying they haven't received them or they have received them??

Btw I have submitted my FBI certificate right after I received the AOR letter w/ stickers to BUFFALO two weeks before my file was transfered to Detroit. However I do have an extra FBI certificate (which will be 3 months old in the end of Oct) with me just in case. Our daughter's citizenship card should arrive anyday (that's what the lady from CIC told us last week) and she also has a Client ID from her own process. Not sure what else I can enlose if I need to send. Please help~

Please read below (e-mail from Detroit)...

" Good afternoon.

This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

We have completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. While an interview does not appear necessary at this time, we reserve the right to call you to an interview, should this become necessary at some future stage in processing.

This message contains important information regarding the continued processing of your application.

- your original FBI certificate. Refer to: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information...states.asp

- evidence of Canadian citizenship for (our daughter's name)

Change of address
It is imperative that you inform the Detroit office of any change in your mailing address.

Note: Do not use the CIC e-Cas on-line Change of address system. Your new address will not be downloaded to your file in Detroit.

Change in family status
You must notify us of any birth, marriage, engagement, divorce, death, or any other significant change in your marital or family composition. You can do so by email, mail or fax. Failure to advise us of these changes could result in delays in processing and possible refusal of your application.

We do not confirm receipt of mail or faxes. Please send information only once. Do not email, fax and mail the same information.

That's actually very good news. Just send in those two things they're asking for, and it sounds like they'll be done processing your app soon.

If they're asking for those things, it means they never received them. My suggestion would be to email back saying they should already have the FBI cert, but you are sending another one, and also tell them that the citizenship card hasn't reached you yet, but if they care to verify her citizenship in FOSS, her client ID is ....

Of course, mail in a copy of the citizenship card as soon as you have it.

Thanks Matt,

I wrote an e-mail to both Buffalo and Detroit to ask if they had received the FBI and explaining the situation about our daughter's certificate..and I got an e-mail back from Detroit this morning...

"Sir/Madam,

Every day, we receive approximately 1.5 boxes of mail, 40 courier envelopes. 7.5 cm of faxes and 150-200 email enquiries. We do not have the resources to confirm receipt of these items.

Regards,"

I was a bit taken back by their response since I thought they could look up the file by using our ID numbers. I have no heard back from Buffalo yet so hopefully someone from there can give me a clue whereabout of my FBI certificate.

Typical CIC. They probably just lost the FBI cert.

If you have another FBI cert, don't hold out hope the first one will turn up - just send the new one to them. Keep a photocopy for yourself, and send it recorded delivery with signature. That way at least you'll know for sure it got there OK. Of course, be sure to put your file number and client ID number in there with it.

I would suggest sending both things they're waiting for together though, especially if you're expecting to get the proof of citizenship soon.
