IMM 0008 - Schedule 1 Background/Declaration form
Hi all,

I am s-l-o-w-l-y filling out these forms while waiting for my background checked.

On IMM 0008 - Schedule 1 - Background/Declaration form - this question has me pulling my hair out.

11. Personal History

Give details of what you have been doing during the past 10 years or since age 18, whichever period is longer, starting with the most recent information. Include
jobs held, periods of unemployment, periods of study and any other use of time, such as time spent travelling in search of a country of refuge, stays in hospitals,
prisons or other places of confinement, and periods spent at home as a homemaker. You must not leave gaps.

How specific do they want?

Going back 18 years is half of my life (since I am 36 yrs old)

I've held lots of "crap" jobs - none longer than about 2 yrs. I can't really remember all of them, nor dates. Plus - some of these places have been sold or no longer exist. I've also done temp work for quite awhile.

Also, since I've been "visiting" in Canada for the last 2 years - I'm obviously not & haven't been working.

Anybody else in this boat?

How did you compile this information?

It's apparent I'll have to use a separate sheet of paper.

Unfortunately, you'll have to try your best to remember all the jobs you've held since 18. If you can't remember the places then make sure you state that. Just be sure you don't leave any gaps. If you haven't been working since coming to Canada, write "unemployed" for that period.

Yeah I listed the jobs I had before I got married and listed the times I was enrolled in college. Did anyone else sit there looking at what you wrote and it made you depressed? I felt like, "What have I done with my life, am I even worthy to be approved?" and also, "If that's my resume, will I even be able to get a job?" It felt like that whole IMM 0008 was an interrogation that ended up portraying me as a loser. :(

Thank you for replying both wongn & Laurelin.

I am doing my best to remember as much as possible as far as who, what, where & when.

Laurelin, I can totally relate - I was married to a control freak. Since the divorce over 9 years ago I've worked many different jobs (for the most part same line of work), sometimes 2 jobs at once and also school & a job at the same time.

I figure I'll do the form until it's full & then start with the extra papers.

Thanks again,
