Saving "fillable" pdfs
Hi everyone
I just managed to work out how to save the "fillable" form pdfs CIC publishes all their application forms in, so I can go back and edit later. I'm fairly sure this won't work with the official acrobat reader, but I don't use windows, so I'm not sure. 1. Go to CIC's site and copy the full url of the application form you need, e.g. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/fo...1344EA.pdf (note it needs to be the direct url for the pdf). 2. Go here: http://rubypdf.appspot.com/pdfdecrypt.html 3. Put in the application form pdf URL from CIC. 4. Leave "User password" blank. 5. Click "Decrypt". The page then gives you a copy of the pdf with some of the restrictions removed. ![]() In my pdf viewing software (evince on ubuntu linux) I can then "save a copy" of the pdf after filling in the form fields, and what I put in the form is also saved. I expect there is some pdf viewing software on windows that will also let you save (once the restriction has been removed using that utility.) Note, you can also download a windows tool that does the same thing as that website: http://blog.rubypdf.com/softs/pdfcrypt/pdfcrypt1.0.zip If anyone gets this working on windows and/or mac, post here, as I expect lots of people would like to be able to save their applications they are part way through working on, especially the bigger ones such as PR applications. From Moby: www.oldapps.com has FoxitReader ver 3.0 and it lets me save the pdf to desktop and one can open and edit it as well.
