So I am a perm resident. And on March 1, 2010 I sent in my application for citizenship. I sent the application to the address given to me in my kit which was a PO Box in Sydney, NS. I did not realize until I got to the post office that they cannot confirm delivery to a PO box. So since I thought that was the only address, I sent it, knowing everything would be okay.

Now I am concerned. Should I have heard by now? Anyone else send a application the first week of March 2010? I try checking my status daily online, but I am not sure what number to use? Maybe the receipt I paid my fees?

Any advice? Should I be concerned?

Jennifer
It takes a good 8 to 10 months for them to just open your application. Then they will take another 3 - 4 months to start processing it. Then another month or 3 to send it to your local CIC office.
CIC is pathetic! I applied 17 months ago and I still have not even been given a test date. There service and processing time is nothing short of pathetic and disgraceful!
but this is not always the case. i knew some people get test date with 12 months and are citizen within 14 months. some one can shed lights on it, may be it depends from which area you are applying.
All file go via CPC-Sydney! It took the 1 year just to send my file to the local CIC. My case is a simple one. I have lived in Canada since landing and only changed jobs and address once. I have only been out of Canada for 5 weeks ( on 2 trips home to visit family ). So I dont understand why it takes sooooooo loooooong.
