Hello & welcome :)
I was in the same boat as you, trying to decide if I should move to US or have hubby move to Canada.
In the beginning we were basing our decision on which immigration process was easiest (not to say we didn't consider many other factors). But the final decision came to us when we really thought about where WE want to live? Because when it really comes down to it, the process is very similar either way. The only difference I found was that USA prefers you to be engaged when you apply. Canada doesn't care about your relationship unless you are serious, and to them you're not serious unless you are married or common law.
So we had to decide, most importantly where would we like to live our lives together, do we care WHEN we get married?
Canada suits us both better, so that's what we chose. We're currently in process, on 'stage 2', aka files have been sent from Mississauga, Ontario to Buffalo, NY.
Good luck with your decision :)
Awwww, My husband is from California too. (Fresno Area)
It took us a long time to decided if we wanted to leave california to come settle down here in Montreal, where i live.
Canada immigration process is really easier, No need to be married, no income requirement, and less expensive.
You also get some good Healthcare benefits.
If you never went to college, you'll be able to apply here after you become a permanent resident, and believe me, its so much cheaper.
But...
BUT..
Me and my hubby are planning on going back to California as soon as were both done with college/university and more settle down in life....
probably in 5-8 years
Just because California is so freakin awesome...
San Francisco is probably one of the nicest city i ever visited.
Also.. it Depends what part of Canada she's from.
Im from the east coast, my hubby is from the West coast so it made travelling really expensive and long.
Cant just go for a weekend.. so we really didn't have a choice to pick a place to settle down fast.
