Hello Everyone,

I was born in Los Angeles, California to Canadian parents, My Dad was in the RCAF and after ww2 moved to California, he never became a citizen. I was born in 1959 and my parents never thought to register my birth with the Canadian government. My parents were from Winnipeg, Manitoba and I guess moving to LA seemed better than a winter in the peg. I do have some relatives in Canada, bur most moved to the USA.
I went in to the airline bussiness and my father found it very ironic, I was working for Canadian Airlines. I have been to every city across Canada and found myself drawn to it. I found the quality of life better . I have known my Wife since I was 14 years old and when were were married, found out that her Father was from Toronto and her Grandfather was from Hamilton, Ontario. We have been married since 1991 and are the parents of a 14 year old daughter, born in Las Vegas, Nevada. I found out about Bill C37 on youtube of all places and called CIC. My wife and I are Canadians and we are waiting for our Certificate of Canadian Citizenship. We plan on moving to Toronto. Our Daughter isnt too thrilled, but we will apply for PR for her and then Canadian Citizenship. I still am in the airline business and proudly wear my Maple Leaf flag pin on my Uniform jacket.
Welcome to RTC

Are you sure you need to apply for your daughter for PR?
Depending on dates (for the govt's sake) - she may already be a citizen also
I'd consider her a citizen, but I'm not making the rules :)

Hi Derby Girl,

I have discussed this with cic, Even tough we are Canadians, because Bill C37 restored our citizenship, She has to be a PR.
Right, if you weren't technically citizens when she was born, then she can't be a citizen
I wasn't sure what date they went by for your citizenship
The good thing is though, once she's a PR - since at least one of her parents is a citizen, she can get her citizenship right away

Hi Derbygirl

Its funny though, my wife and I are recognized Canadians and our daughter is an American only. Its not a problem getting PR for her and then Citizenship, I want her to be able to be a dual and choose where she wants to live. I myself have always felt more at home in Canada.
