I understand I can do part time work while I am collecting EI benefit. I just need to report my earnings. This may result in some deduction depending on how much I earned. My current part time earning does not offset all my EI benefit. I am still collecting money from EI.
I have a situation here that my part time employer is asking me to leave the country for a few weeks. I was wondering what is the impact to my benefit payment if I agree to go.
My concern is in theory I am not eligible for EI payment if I am outside of Canada or if I am working full time.
The fact is I am still a part time worker. Is there any employment rule saying that my employer cannot not ask me (a part time worker) to leave the country? or I'll be considered by EI as a full time worker once I take the assignment?
Will my EI payment stop once I leave the country under such condition?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
