I just updated my automatic e-CAS Tracking program and added some more information about what it is and how it works. It's as ready for public consumption as it's going to get, so if you are sick of logging into e-CAS every day only to find nothing has changed, you might want to sign up:

awsome ty matthew!!!
Thanks Matthew. What a great resource. I'm so glad there are forums like this out here.
You're very welcome!

I just checked and it's currently tracking e-CAS for 21 people, and there are 4 more people who used it, but have now landed. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned, so spread the word.
I just joined, thanks a million!
Matthew!!!Thank you sooooo much for this!!! I signed up on Friday as checking Ecas everyday had really started to wear thin!!Woke this morning to find an e-mail stating that a decision had been reached regarding my permanent residency app!!!!BRILLIANT!!!

Hope you don't mind but I posted the link on BritishExpats...thought this little gem could help alot of people!!

Thanks sooo much!!

Just joined. Thanks Matthew!!!!!
I'm working on an improved e-CAS tracker that will monitor e-CAS before your application shows up and inform you when it does.

This is a bit more complicated than the original, as it needs to be able to deal with various possibilities for logging in. For example, until you access e-CAS you don't know whether it will be the file number, receipt number, or client ID number that will let you in, so you try all of them. I want this to do the same.

There's something I'm not sure about though - and would appreciate feedback:

Has anyone encountered a situation where e-CAS works using a different surname to that which you're expecting. e.g. if you have a maiden name and it works in your married name instead? or if you have a hyphenated name and what finally lets you in is only part of the hyphenated name.

The reason I ask is that I could build in the functionality to check for multiple possible surnames, as well as multiple possible id types, but I'm not sure if I need to.

It will allow for multiple possible countries - I personally experienced confusion with UK / England - so that's in.

Any feedback on surnames would be appreciated.

Thanks
Matthew
Here's my feedback on surnames. I originally applied with my maiden name because I hadn't changed my passport at that time. When I did finally change my passport I sent a copy of it to Buffalo. So, the first few times I logged into Ecas I used my maiden name. One day when this didn't work, I tried my married name and it worked. I'm assuming this is because I sent in a copy of my new passport.

Hope this helps.
Thinking about it more, I think the maiden name / married name situation is likely fairly common. I'll set it up to support checking multiple surnames.

This is typically inconsistent - my situation was exactly the same, I applied with my former married name because I hadn't changed my passport yet - the followed up by sending a copy of my passport in my new married name to Buffalo. But I still have to use my former married name to log in to eCAS.
Hi all, I read in another forum that the E-CAS only gets updated on Mondays, is this true? Thanks
On the website it states normally updated on Tuesday of each week but I have seen posting where it was updated on other days so who really knows.LOL
