Women's haven feels a little less safe - Toronto Star

Community groups demand an end to Immigration Enforcement entering women's shelters - Rabble

I think the rabble article, especially, raises some pretty serious issues with enforcement, what should be enforced, where, and under what circumstances. If victimised, out of status women know CBSA will enter shelters to enforce removals, that will make them more likely to stay in a dangerous situation and less likely to seek help. It's additionally troublesome when you consider that the wellbeing of children might also be involved.

Food for thought.
The underlying case is indeed the most difficult of refugee cases, especially so since there are probably billions, but at the least hundreds of millions of women in dire circumstances around the world who are not just vulnerable to abuse and exploitation, but are actually being subjected to abuse and exploitation nearly continually. How to handle those cases is a very difficult conundrum.

But this particular story is more about the means of enforcement, and the impact of using those means. I would not call the visit to the shelter a "raid," but it nonetheless is troubling . . . the importance of maintaining those refuges, almost as sacrosanct, cannot be overstated. I had clients who took refuge in such places in the 80s. Their fear isvirtually unimaginable for a male like me; just no way I truly understand its scope, its intensity, and as you say, especially when children are involved.

It just seems so unnecessary for CBSA to engage in this sort of thing. I suppose that Canada is not immune from tendencies to be harsh . . . and it sure seems like women tend to get the brunt of these things more often than men.
If a person is in a shelter from abuse and has not committed any criminal acts then they should be protected. Is this not what the H&C class is for?

As civilized people we should give protection to those who need it.
i feel the same, but the law is the law, someone has to enforce it right?

i don't think there is law to prevent CBSA from entering, same as church, even CBSA hasn't done so, look like church can't avoid that too.

CBSA officers can detain that person if they have reasonable grounds to believe that the person is inadmissible without warrant, the only exception is PR, if CBSA need to arrest PR, then they need warrant.

then my question is what if there are victims of trafficing? they might just simply stay under
