hello,

just a quick brief on my case, my wife is sponsoring me, i am a syrian citizen living in lebanon, never been in syria.

my wife has asked the help of her MP and so far he has been very helpful, the person responsible of the immigration issues at his office called my wife on friday and told her that everything is done and they are in the last step doing the security checks now.

my question here is:

1)is it possible for them to still call me in for an interview regarding our relation?

2)is their any difference between security checks and background checks?

thanks alot in advance.
It's always possible, up until the last minute, that they will call you and ask for an interview. Most likely they don't have concerns at this point about the genuine nature of your relationship, but if anything comes up as a result of any part of the process that they want to ask you about, they'll contact you for an interview.

As far as "security checks" or "background checks" - these are done through the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) to make sure that you are not a security risk to Canada. It's a different process than CIC reviewing the criminal clearances you submit with your application, and it's usually the last thing completed before PR is issued.
aha, so can i assume that all is ok for now? and after the security checks are done ill be cleared and get my PR visa?

thanks robs, ur always around to help in all forums!
Hi,
My husband has almost the same story going on. Only waiting for security check.. for almost 4 monts...
Question: Since everythong else is ok in the file, if the criminal clearance pass 1 year soon, do he need another one ?
I know it will be the case for medical but criminal ? At this point ?
Thanks for sharing
