I've read in other threads about people applying for health insurance after reaching AIP, but before getting PR.

1. Does anyone know if it is possible to apply for health insurance after AIP in New Brunswick?
2. If so, how should I go about doing it?

Thanks in advance for your help.
The province's differ on eligibility
What works in one, doesn't necessarily work in another

Thanks for the reply. I actually went to Service New Brunswick today and here is what I learned.... Just for anyone else that might be immigrating to New Brunswick...

I am eligible. Though I think it has more to do with my Open Work Permit than my immigration status. I was able to apply by filling out a short, though surprisingly confusing form (it is designed for people moving from one province to another, so much is not applicable to immigrants) at Service New Brunswick. They then photocopied my work permit, study permit and passport. I should get my medicare card in 4-6 weeks!!

After 4 years of paying for health insurance, this is very exciting!! I now wonder if anyone with a work permit is eligible for medicare in New Brunswick.
I received a letter from Service NB today. My medicare coverage starts May 1, 2009! So there was a 3 month waiting period from the date my work permit was issued, but I was able to get medicare coverage before my pertinent residence app was finalized.
FYI, There is talk that NB will be removing the 3 month waiting period, although nobody in Service New Brunswick can give me a stright answer.
